Introduce the difference and application between hot melt adhesive and hydrosol

The adhesive for self-adhesive labels has become an indispensable material in industrial production and daily life due to its convenient use and adhesive properties. However, there are actually many types of adhesives, and different types of adhesives have different prices and applications. In order to make better choices, today we will introduce common self-adhesive adhesives, hot melt adhesives, and hydrosol (usually called water-based adhesives)

Hot melt adhesive: It belongs to rubber based adhesives. Strong fluidity, strong viscosity, suitable for low-temperature labeling (minus 5-10 degrees), and environmentally friendly and non-toxic; The labeling effect is better when there is a trace of oil or water on the surface of the object being pasted than when there is a water sol. Disadvantages of glue: A. It is not resistant to high temperatures and can only be used below 70 degrees Celsius. B. It is sensitive to temperature during processing and can become hard and brittle when stored at temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius in winter. C. It has poor replace ability. D. It cannot be applied to PVC materials. Application areas: It does not require high temperature labeling environments, such as food, medicine, supermarket labels, etc

Hydrosol adhesive: It belongs to the acrylic adhesive category. Strong viscosity, the vast majority of hydrosol are environmentally friendly and non-toxic, and water-soluble adhesives have stronger temperature resistance than hot melt adhesives. The vast majority of hydrosol can withstand temperatures below 90 degrees Celsius, while some can withstand temperatures around 150 degrees Celsius. Low temperature labeling performance is poor, with slight water or oil stains on the object being pasted, and it is difficult for the water sol to exert its viscosity. This is because the fluidity of the water sol is poor, and it is applied to food, medicine, daily chemical products, and some industrial product labels with strict environmental requirements

 

When the self-adhesive label is first pasted, the adhesive of hot melt adhesive is much stronger than that of water glue. However, if you try again after 24 hours, you will find that labels that use water glue are much harder to peel off than hot melt adhesive. This is because the fluidity of water glue is slow. Within more than 20 hours after labeling, the adhesive under the label finally fully adheres to the surface of the object being pasted.

 

If the adhesive label is applied to the same substrate with the same thickness of adhesive, the adhesive size will be as follows: water-based adhesive>hot melt adhesive, and the price will also be the same. It should be noted that self-adhesive labels are most suitable for labeling substrates with clean, dry, oil-free, and dust-free surfaces. When applying any label, it is necessary to keep the surface of the object being applied dry, free of oil and dust, in order to achieve the best labeling effect.
